Nightmares and the Nervous System:
Finding Images of Safety and Connection in Unlikely Places
Nightmares are a symptom of a nervous system that doesn't feel safe. They are rich with information about what is unmetabolized and yet can point the way forward to greater safety and connection. You will learn about Nightmare Relief, a protocol Dr. Ellis has developed over decades of dreamwork to engage safely and directly with dream images to unearth their transformative potential. You will also learn how to understand dream sequences as diagnostic and as indicators of recovery. The information will be grounded in clinical examples and your questions are welcome.
Dr. Leslie Ellis is an author and educator specializing in the use of embodied experiential methods such as Focusing for working with dreams and nightmares. She is author of
A Clinician's Guide to Dream Therapy
(Routledge) and numerous book chapters and journal articles, and an international speaker. She currently offers online education for clinicians on experiential dreamwork and nightmare treatment. She is a former executive of both the International Focusing Institute and the International Association for the Study of Dreams.
